Life in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. We left Homer, Alaska on June 3rd, 2009, traveling in our van loaded down with everything we need to set up housekeeping in New Mexico. We now own a small house here and are loving life in the sun. If you scroll back far enough, you'll find a complete record of our road trip.

My Hero
Some of you know my story about driving out here back in '81 and how I'd never camped or done much roughing it; you also know the part of this story where I fell all ga-ga in love with David all over again because he knew how to do everything and I didn't know how to do anything on that trip. And now it's happening again!!! Two nights ago as we were pulling into the Burwash Lodge on Kluane Lake the car began to make the most appalling squealing sound--it sounded like our rear axel was being torn from the undercarriage. It was really horrible and really scary, since one's brain immediately begins imagining all sorts of depressing scenarios of having to replace the entire car, thousands of dollars in garage bills, etc. But my Sweetie, deciding that before we call the garage guy he should at least take the wheel off and take a look, found that all that piercing squealing was caused by a small rock stuck between the brake and the housing. Removing the rock removed the problem. Give that boy a beer!!!
Annie and David are originally from New England. They moved to Alaska in 1981. Annie has most recently worked as a Realtor and David has been a General Contractor. David is doing most of the typing but Annie's entries will be in italics.
Our move is complete!
