Alaska to New Mexico

Life in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. We left Homer, Alaska on June 3rd, 2009, traveling in our van loaded down with everything we need to set up housekeeping in New Mexico. We now own a small house here and are loving life in the sun. If you scroll back far enough, you'll find a complete record of our road trip.

Music Soothes the Savage...

Annie here. One of the things that is so much fun on this trip is that we're actually being able to listen to our music, some of it for the first time. Our CD's have been spread all over the house for the entire time we've lived there. Thanks to the brilliance of our daughter, we now have all our CD's out of their useless gellpacks and in a portable case. We have blazed through Anchorage with Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits cranked, windows down and the wind blowing through the little hair we both have left. It's so funny--our music has always been just a backdrop or an inconsequential accompaniment to whatever dinner or gathering we were having at our house; sometimes several tracts of a particular CD, played loud, spurred us into a frantic housecleaning or laundry-folding frenzy. We never really LISTENED to a CD played all the way through. And now we get to! So, from time to time I'll let you know what we listened to on a particular day, just because I can!!! And until then "...jump down a manhole and light yourself a candle..." b. dylan
